Chillspot Records DJ Fantan and Levels have been sentenced to 12 months behind bars by a Zimbabwe provincial court for contravening lockdown regulations after organizing a fully packed New Year’s Eve gig.
The 2 popular DJs from Chillspot, one of the country’s biggest recording studios by the number of artists were arrested for violating the Covid-19 regulations by hosting a public music event in their local Mbare community.
DJ Fantan, real name Arnold Kamudyariwa, and Levels, real name Tafadzwa Kadzimwe pleaded guilty to the charges and sentenced to 12 months in prison with 6 months being a suspended sentence which means that they will only spend 6 months behind bars.
The Zimbabwean health system is under a lot of pressure with a lot of local hospitals feeling up amind a rise in Covid-19 cases which has prompted the government to put another hard lockdown promptly.
