The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) is again faced with a dilemma of leaked Ordinary level Mathematics and English papers.
According to a report by Techzim, a ZIMSEC employee who works for the ZIMSEC Norton Printing press has been charged with violating the Zimbabwe Schools Examinations Council Act for allegedly stealing the papers.
A 22-year-old male by the name of Arnold Mayimba has appeared before the Harare Magistrate Court for allegedly stealing the O-level 2020 Mathematics paper 1 & 2 and the O-level 2020 English paper 1 &2.
The courts stated that the accused stole the Mathematics papers 1 and 2 by smuggling them out of his place of work under his jersey on the 27th of November and subsequently did the same for the English papers on the 3rd of December.
The state prosecutor suspects the papers were sold to ZIMSEC candidates before the examinations were written and investigations led to the arrest of Mr. Arnold Mayimba together with the hunting down of his customers.
Bail for the accused was opposed by the state prosecutor due to the overwhelming evidence against the 22-year-old as well as due to the sentencing he might facing which could motivate him to flee.
