South Africa’s public enterprises, labour and tourism ministers in a video conference yesterday with Unions who have members at the state-owned airline where they decided that the Airline’s administrators should abandon their plans to dismiss the airline’s workforce.
This follows the events that happened last week when the Airline approached the government for further funding after they said the Coronavirus pandemic had affected them more from the existing financial problems as they had to ground all their airlines.
The Airline’s administrators had to start retrenchment talks as there was no option after these events.
Workers will get half their salaries this month according to the Union.
The airline’s administrators were appointed in December 2019 and were not invited to the meeting that took place yesterday.
