MyBroadband released its insights on Q4 2019 Mobile Quality report at the end of 2019 which was based on 310,649 internet speed tests which were performed by users in South Africa between 1 October 2019 and the 31st of December of the same year.
The report showed that MTN had the highest score among users while also showing an average mobile download speed of 26.73Mbps and an average upload speed of 9.53Mbps.
MTN being the better performer, the network had an average download speed at 40.64Mbps, followed by Vodacom on 32.23Mbps, Telkom on 21.63Mbps, Rain on 16.44Mbps, and Cell C on 16.48Mbps.

MTN was also a better performer because of its Network Quality Score. The mobile network operator had a Network Quality Score of 10.00, followed by Vodacom on 8.72, Telkom on 6.23, Rain on 5.88, and Cell C on 5.58.
Rain had the worst network in Johannesburg and Pretoria, while Cell C was the worst network in Durban and Cape Town.
