The Zimbabwean currency has been losing its value on a daily basis comparing to other currencies like the Rand and mostly the USD which is used to Peg costs and compare pricing across sectors in an economy and with other countries.
This situation has led the Zimbabwean Telecoms regulator POTRAZ to review and approve Voice tariffs which have been more than doubled from the existing prices and Data tariffs which have been increased by around 50%.
The Following Table Shows the tariffs effective Today and the 9th of August.
Since the announcement was made earlier today, Zimbabwe’s largest mobiles operator ECONET WIRELESS has already issued a statement notifying its users of its new tariffs with its voice calls at $0.0018/ Second which is close to $0.50 per minute.
However, even after this increase, Zimbabwe still has the lowest prices on data, voice and more considering the fact that its currency compared to the American Dollar is sitting at 1:10. This situation continues to hurt businesses making the economic condition not so viable to keep operating.
